DIY Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

How to Make Dessert Bars

Dessert bar recipes are fairly simple to make. You just want to make sure you don’t over-bake them, so don’t be fooled by their appearance when you pull them out of the oven. They will look like they are not quite set. However, once you pull the pan out, they will continue to set as they cool down on top of the stove. 

Also, please note that while the recipe calls for ½ cup of peanut butter, you will actually need more than this. Additional peanut butter will be spread over the bars after they have baked in the oven and set on the stove. You can even consider replacing almond butter for peanut butter, if you prefer.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar

These peanut bar creations are one of our favorite peanut butter chocolate bars. With such a plethora of yummy options out there, that’s really a testament to how delicious they are.

    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 cup light brown sugar
    • 3/4 cup butter
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla
    • 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy is suggested)
    • 3/4 tbsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

Instructions :

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
Step 2: Mix together the sugar, brown sugar, and butter in a large mixing bowl.
Step 3: Add the vanilla extract, eggs, and peanut butter to the large bowl containing the already mixed sugar and butter, and blend everything together.
Step 4: Now, mix the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl. You will then add them to the large bowl containing the previous mixtures.
Step 5: Press the batter firmly into a greased 9×13” pan. You will want to bake it at 350 degrees for 17-21 minutes, being careful not to overcook it.
Step 6: Allow the bars to cool completely. Once they are cooled down and have had the chance to set, spread some peanut butter over the bars. You can add as little or as much as you like.
